Surya's movie with Venkat - A 3D Style

Here it comes, straight from the horse’s mouth.After giving a blockbuster, Mankatha, with Ajith, hotshot filmmaker Venkat Prabhu has moved on to his next with another big star, Suriya.Prabhu, who’d shut himself with his assistants in a remote place for the last few weeks, was spotted in the city recently. DC caught up with him for a chat about the high action entertainer.

“Yes, my next is with Suriya which will be a new experience for Tamil audiences. I just narrated a line to Suriya which he liked. I am working on the full script now. Unlike Ra.One and other Hindi flicks which were shot in normal cameras and converted to the 3D format, the new Suriya film will be a 3D film which will be shot in 3D format. I am roping in Hollywood specialists who would be with us right from day one of shooting.”

Suriya to do a film with Bala!

It was Bala who gave Suriya two of the most memorable movies in his career- 'Nandha' and 'Pithamagan'. After a gap, the director and the actor seems to have decided to come together again. This has been confirmed by a person no lesser than Suriya himself.Talks are currently on (with Bala). We will soon decide on what will be our next venture and when will we do it. I am eager to do a film with Bala again," says Suriya, who was seen doing a cameo in the National award winning director's recent movie, 'Avan Ivan'.

On not acting in films directed by newcomers, the actor says, "That's because established directors could have a firm grip on the medium and they are able to clear all our doubts as and when they crop up. I am not saying new directors are less talented. But I am cautious."

"I would sure do a film with a debutant director if I get a right opportunity," Suriya says and adds: "These days, producers believe that the business of my movies has reached new heights. I don't want to shatter their hope. So I am working with popular filmmakers."

7am Arivu as 7th Sense

7am Arivu will be released in Telugu under the title 7th Sense.The Telugu version is going to release in the last week of October as a Diwali special. Shruti Haasan is going to make her debut in Tamil with this film. A R Murugadoss has directed the film and Harris Jayaraj has composed the music. It’s the first time since Ghajini that Surya, Murugadoss and Harris have come together for a film. Surya plays two different roles in the film, one as a circus artist and another as a Buddhist Monk. Ever since the film’s first look was launched, it has been making waves and there are several versions of what the story might be.
The film has been shot in Chennai, China, Bangkok and other exotic South-East Asian locales. A Vietnamese actor, Johnny Tri Nguyen has been cast as the villain in the film. Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer. Lakshmi Ganapathi Films have bought the dubbing rights for the Telugu version and it’s going to have a big release in Telugu as well. The Tamil version is going to release on October 26.

Shankar to pick up Suriya or Ajith?

The Nanban team celebrated the fact that they had completed shooting successfully with a big bash at Hotel Green Park. The entire cast and crew were present for the event. Vijay, Shankar, Jiiva, Srikanth, Harris Jayaraj were part of the festivities. A spirit of fun and bonhomie pervaded the event.

Everybody felt that they had made a good film and were proud of their collective effort. Vijay especially was happy to have worked with Shankar since he had been unable to work with him in the past. His next film will be with AR Murugadoss it is said and shooting will begin shortly.

As for Shankar, he has worked with practically all the big heroes who are beloved to the people with the exception of Suriya and Ajith. So it is hoped that he will pick up one these two for his next project.

Surya to do another Gangster Film with Hari ?

Surya and Director Hari produced a formulaic hit in 2010 (Singam) which was one of the best entertainers. But Hari’s next Vengai bombed at the box office and criticized heavily for Hari’s sterotypic film making. Yet, Surya believes that he can recreate the magic again with the help of Hari.

Hari is also determined to do the best with a powerful script this time. Surya and Hari will go on shooting in January 2012, it is believed. Producer KE Gnanavel Raja for Studio Greens is likely to produce the film the shoot of which will take place in Tirunelveli, Hari’s favourite shooting place.

Surya is all set to play the role of a Gangster in this new movie. Once again, we are destined to see even slow moving cars come to a screeching halt :)

Surya's horse fetches record sum

Surya's costar in 7am Arivu has four legs! Since Surya plays a circus artiste in the film what could be more appropriate than a horse for a companion? Apparently this horse is a superbly trained specimen and was invaluable during the shooting. All the portions involving this animal superstar have been filmed so the team wanted to find a good place for the horse where it will be well looked after.

The horse was then put up for sale in a famous market town near Erode which has been functioning since Tipu Sultan's reign. Many livestock used in films have formerly been sold here for outrageous prices. But Surya's horse which was sold for a record sum of 5 lakhs has set the bar really high. The crew members waved it off as the star horse went away with its new owners.

Anand goes the Allen way - Maatraan

KV Anand is quite a chilled out director as he explores interesting ways to give that humorous touch to all his movies.

The director, who is currently shooting for his next big project, Maatraan with Suriya has a scene which takes a jab at Ko. The director is known for this technique where he mocks his own movies. Sources reveal that K V Anand is a completely chilled out ma...n, humorous in nature and always looking to add that extra zing to whatever he's doing. "And, this is similar to the kind of technique Woody Allen uses," says an industry insider.
Anand previously mocked Ayan in Ko and now even plans to bring the character Vasanthan from Ko to Maatraan. "K V Anand wants to remind viewers that cinema is a continuous process and that's exactly what he is trying to show by mocking his own projects"adds the source.

7am Arivu dubbing rights locked by LGF

Lakshmi Ganapathi Films had brought in several successful dubbing films right from the Hollywood to Kollywood is back again. They have brought the locked the dubbing rights of 7am Arivu starring Surya, Shruthi Hassan for a sky-high price. 7am Arivu is directed by Murugadoss is high on expectations in Tamil and as well as Telugu.

Surya has good fan following Telugu as his earlier outings like Ghajini, Aaru, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Vaaranam Aayiram, Ayan, Aadhavan and Singam turned out to be hits and received good collections at Tollywood box office. The title of the Telugu version is not yet confirmed but the dubbing works of the film are on the heels of completion with the dialogues written by Shashank Vennelakanti.

The chief of LGF confess that they faced heavy competition from top producers from Tollywood for snapping the rights. He is expecting that 7am Arivu will become big hit.

The dubbing version will release along with the Tamil version.

Surya to turn producer

Surya, the hottest star of today, asserted, “I want to take a cue from Murugadoss and start my own productions, to encourage new talent. It’s a way to give something back to the industry which has given me so much.”

He was speaking at the audio launch of Murugadoss Productions’ maiden venture, Engeyum Eppodhum at a city multiplex.

He added that his new avatar as a producer would take place around the same time next year.
Engeyum Eppodhum, which features Jai, Anjali, Sarvanand and Ananya, is directed by Murugadoss’s former assistant Saravanan.

This film also marks the entry of Hollywood’s Fox Star Studios into Tamil cinema. Its music, by Sathya, was appreciated by all.

Though Kishore is the editor of the film, we were told that ace editor Antony had cut the slick trailer which was aired that evening.

Murugadoss was in an upbeat mood and nostalgic, too, as he recalled how he had naively come to Chennai a few years ago from his native Kallakurichi with the single agenda of making it big in films and he said he was gratified that he’d accomplished that goal.

SAC and Sarath Kumar were conspicuous by their absence. Vijay Singh, Vivek, Prabhu Solomon, Harris Jayaraj were among the other guests who graced the occasion.
