Producer Vishnu Babu is leaving no stone unturned to make his dad and seasoned actor, Mohan Babu's film -tentatively titled Ravana -into a magnum opus. The Manchu family is making the mythological film in Hindi and Tamil in an apparent attempt to cover the whopping `60 crore budget, and also, to reach out to pan-Indian audience.“The story of Ram and Ravan is universal and people all over the world will easily relate to it. In addition, ace director K. Raghavendra Rao is quite popular in Bollywood with hits like Himmatwala and Singhasan. With Mohan Babu playing the role of Ravan, we wanted to find a big star to play Lord Ram and so we approached B-town superstar Hrithik Roshan and narrated the concept to him. Though he liked it, he has no dates to spare and could allot dates only towards the end of 2013 since he is tied up with Krish 3,“ said a source.
“Since we intend to begin shooting from June 2012, we are thinking of approaching Tamil star Suriya, since he is popular in Tollywood too,“ adds the source, close to the Manchu family. While producer Vishnu Babu is reluctant to take names, he claims more than six to seven popular stars would be roped in. “I can't take names, but we are planning to sign on a big star from other lan guage films to play the role of Lord Ram to match the towering presence of my dad.“
But why not a Telugu star?
“We will have five to six Telugu actors playing differ ent roles, so for Lord Ram we thought of roping in an outsider,“ he concludes.
