In Kollywood, Suriya stands out as one of the biggest stars with some enviable projects in his kitty. His forthcoming flick 7am Arivu (The Seventh Sense) is possibly the most hyped and anticipated movie of the year. The theme of of the film has been kept under wraps since its shooting days. Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, the film, insiders say, will outsmart Ghajini, the duo...'s previous superhit flick.
It is reliably learnt Suriya is essaying three roles in the movie and has three distinct looks to showcase. In what is being described as a sci-fi thriller built around the impact of a time machine that is brought to India, the actor plays a trapeze artiste, a Buddhist monk and a scientist.
With a view to ensuring that Suriya's appearance in the film looks several shades better than his looks in Ghajini, the actor-director combo had spared no efforts to keep it as a closely-guarded secret. Days ago, Suriya's look in the film that features him as a Buddhist monk has been released. Besides the monk picture, couple of
other stills where Suriya is seen, along with his co-star Shruti Haasan, have also been released.
When prodded, Suriya is all smiles about this project, which in his opinion, will be far better than any of his recent outings, Ghajini included.
“I was lucky to have celebrated my birthday on the sets of 7am Arivu last year while this year's birthday celebrations were on the sets of KV Anand's Maatran. The shooting is happening at a brisk pace,” says Suriya.
“I wanted to ensure that this one looked better than our previous film together and hence we worked harder,” says the actor.
There are several theories floating around about his charcter(s) in the film.
“At this stage I wouldn't want to divulge much about my roles in the film. But I can assure you that this project will be a giant leap for the entire team that worked on Ghajini. We, as a team, have tried to break away from the monotony of the formulaic way of making our films. It has been our earnest attempt to rewrite the grammar of filmmaking,” says Suriya.
According to a source close to the unit, Suriya's performance as a circus artist will certainly garner accolades from all quarters as after all that training in the act of juggling, he has acquired skills that are good enough to impress real circus artistes.
The music release of 7am Arivu is expected to take soon.
The makers plan to release the film — which will be dubbed in Hindi and Telugu — by the end of 2011.
